Lighting the Way: How Carroll Alum Owen Hawver Turned a Candle Hobby into the Oren + Olive Brand

Owen Hawver, a Carroll University alum, founded Oren + Olive to offer unique, hand-poured candles crafted in repurposed vessels. Inspired by his love for candles and a personal vision, he built a brand known for its moody, sophisticated aesthetic and premium experience. Based in Milwaukee, his candles are available online and in select local stores. While balancing his role as a data analyst at Northwestern Mutual, Hawver continues to grow Oren + Olive, emphasizing quality, collaboration with local artists, and attention to detail.

Unlike many other programs, ours will be integrated within the liberal arts framework at Carroll. This unique approach will ensure that Carroll engineers become highly sought after for their ability to solve problems both as technicians and critical thinkers. This article outlines the new Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) and Mechanical Engineering (MEE) programs.

Wellness Advocates Create Well-being Across Campus

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, colleges have observed a marked increase in students struggling with transitional issues, particularly those related to mental health and emotional well-being. The pandemic disrupted the typical middle and high school experiences, leading to a new generation of students who missed out on crucial social development during their formative years. Many of these students, now in college, are grappling with heightened anxiety and self-doubt. They often find themselves in a unique position: needing support that falls between informal peer advice and formal clinical therapy. This has been compounded by lessened social integration due to COVID-19 restrictions.
